Football season is in full swing. Whether it is Thursday night Junior High or Junior Varsity games, Friday night High School games, Saturday College games, or Sunday afternoon, Monday night or Thursday night NFL games, there are ample opportunities to cheer for your favorite team. Football players or athletes in general are not successful at what they do by just sitting around and hoping and praying that God will make them a good football player or athlete. They train hard and follow a disciplined routine for success.
In many ways, a Christian's life is similar to that of an athlete. The Bible speaks of spiritual disciplines that are simple practices meant to train us. They are meant to train us for godliness as we seek to follow Christ and love others. They are meant to train us to handle the struggles and trials of life. In this series, we look at some classic spiritual disciplines and discover how they can help us play in the game of life faithfully and well.
